Untenable position

BOATERS are concerned about Vaughan Welch's suitability as a boaters representative on the Canal & River Trust council, in view of the furor concerning his 'spying' activities, with one, Graham Phillips, writing:

With the Inland Waterways Association trying desperately to distance itself from the boat spying furore stirred up by Vaughn Welch, and CaRT stating that Mr Welch's comments don't represent the official viewpoint of the organisation, does this not make his position on the CaRT council as a boaters representative completely untenable?

Stood down

Would it not be for the benefit of all if he stood down and a re-election for all four boaters representatives took place?

Boaters, many now ex IWA members, have lost faith in the way the IWA is being run by its current elected committee who obviously have far too much say and influence over CaRT matters in the supposed name of their dwindling membership.

Another whitewash

CaRT have recently launched a consultation document on drastic changes to visitor moorings in the South East (excluding London) brought about by lobbying from, amongst others, the IWA, saying that continuous cruisers are a massive 'problem'—and unsurprisingly, the IWA have been quick to notify its membership via its website, of this, perhaps in the hope of another handy whitewash.
