A LOCK BEAM HAS FAILED on Colwich Lock 21, with navigation stopped.
With repair works starting soon, Keith Gudgin reports.
Well known by boaters as Cow Shit Lock, as walking to or from the boat means stepping to where cows are taking in for milking then let out again—it being somewhat mucky!
Water escaping
A lock beam has failed, allowing water to escape from the lock, it creating a potentially hazardous situation, we are told.
But repair works will take place at the lock today Friday 4th September, with a 'Reactive Response Team' attending the site today to carry out repairs and make the area safe.
We are further told that navigation is expected to reopen once the repairs have been completed.
