THE ROCHDALE CANAL is not having it too good at the moment.
With two more stoppages, Kieth Gudgin reports.
Navigation is now closed at Slattocks Lock 9 on the waterway.
This being due to a fault with the mechanism that operates the paddle, preventing the paddle from being opened.
A local team has attended to inspect the situation and a method of repair is being made to enable the lock to be quickly repaired.
Closed to the end of October
The canal leak between locks 81 and 83 has encountered some unforeseen ground conditions whilst the excavation works was being carried out.
This requires more engineering assessments to be made, with work not expected to be completed until the end of October.
