THERE HAVE BEEN A NUMBER of navigations reopened recently.

And restrictions lifted, Keith Gudgin reports.

New Main Line

Brades Flight on the Gower Branch of the New Main Line is now open for navigation.

This was closed due to lack of water but following recent rainfall and an improvement in water levels, the closure at Brades Flight has now been lifted, with the navigation reopened.

Walsall Canal

It was the 27th of May that due to the top gate having snapped at Lock 7 the flight was closed to navigation.

It has taken a long time to replace, but it is at last the work is completed and the navigation reopened.

Spon Lane Locks

Spon Lane Locks that connects the Old Main Line to the New Main Line was closed through lack of water.

Following recent rainfall and and the subsequent increase in water levels the closure was lifted and navigation reopened this morning, Wednesday.

Ashton Canal

The cobbles that were removed at Lock 17 on the Ashton Canal have now been replaced.

But some are still missing with safety fencing in place, but the navigation is now reopened and the lock safe for boaters to operate.
