THERE ARE TWO MORE CLOSURES though lack of water on two major canals.

These include the Grand Union Canal and Leeds & Liverpool Canal, Keith Gudgin reports.

Low water levels have closed the Grand Union Canal between Camp Hill Top Lock and Knowle Top Lock with the reason given as low water.

However, the Monday's stoppage of the Stoke Bruerne Flight that was closed by a faulty paddle, is now reopened.

Leeds & Liverpool Canal

The stoppage of low water on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal is drastic from Lock 7 to Lock 13 including the three flights of Kirkstall, Forge and Newlay Locks all closed.

Canal & River Trust give the reason as—'Due to increased boat movements in recent days, water levels in the canal have fallen to a point where we need to temporarily close the canal to navigation at Newlay, Forge and Kirkstall.   This short-term closure will allow the canal time to recover and water levels to replenish.

Reopened

Aldermaston Swing bridge that was struct by a lorry and put out of action is now repaired and has reopened to navigation.
