Important tidal mooring still not repaired
IT WAS the winter flooding of the tidal Trent in January that caused the visitor moorings to be damaged.
This meant the safety of boaters was put at risk as the moorings could not be used in case of an emergency and no possibily of mooring on the river's banks. as Keith Gudgin reported at the time.
Canal & River Trust realised the danger, and at that time though told that 'due to recent flooding, the Northern side of the pontoon on Dunham visitor moorings is currently stuck up out of the water and is not safe for our customers to use'.
The good news?
The good news was—'Once the water levels come back down, our local team will be able to assess the situation and plan in the required repairs'.
Yet it is now.eight months later, and winter will soon be upon us again, but still no effort has been made to repair these most important moorings.
