MATT KENT AND HIS SON ELLIS are now on their way walking the entire Thames towpath.

Starting last Wednesday, 19th August, Janet Friend reports.

It really is the entire Thames having started their walk from the source of the river near Kemble in the Cotswolds to the Thames Barrier in London.

185 miles

It amounting to 185 miles with both ends leaving the actual towpath, planning to end their journey on the 4th September at the Thames barrier.

The pair are carrying as much as they will need for camping besides the river when nowhere else is available for their overnight stays.

Cancer research

The purpose of their long trek is to raise £5,000 for Cancer Research UK in memory of Ellis's grandmother, Barbara Sutherland, who died from pancreatic cancer three years ago.
