IN ADDITION TO THE LEEDS & LIVERPOOL CANAL being closed at Wigan Flight on Thursday, there are still problems.
These are at the eastern end of the waterway, Keith Gudgin reports.
This is from Office Lock 2 and Bank Newton Top Lock 41.
The section from Bank Newton to Gargrave reopened at 10am this morning, Saturday.
But Lock 37 to Top Lock 41 and Lock 30 to Lock 37 will close at 2pm.
Bingley Flights
The Bingley 5 Rise and the Bingley 3 Rise (pictured) will reopen from Monday 24th August.
These will operate on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday with normal summer opening times.
The navigation at Newlay, Forge and Kirkstall will be rechecked and evaluated on Tuesday. If reopened, the flights will operate on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, again normal summer operating times will apply.
Levels continue to fall
During the 10 days in which lock flights have been closed at Gargrave, Bank Newton, Bingley 3 Rise, Bingley 5 Rise, Kirkstall , Forge and Newlay, the canal levels have continued to fall rather than recover as was hoped.
