Cleaning the Erewash from canoes

YOUNG people have been clearing the rubbish from the Erewash Canal—from canoes.

It was players from Long Eaton United's boys under 11s that joined the Canal & River Trust workers in canoes scouring the canal for litter, Janet Friend reports.

In addition they had a litter-pick that collected four bags of rubbish in the process. Their team manager, Romaine Graham, told that the players enjoyed the outing and worked hard to clean-up the area, adding:

“The canal is such an important part of Long Eaton and we wanted to do our bit to make it nicer for everyone living and working in the town.

"It was a great activity and we had a fun and productive day, with both the kids and adults learning a lot.”
