OVER THE PAST TWO DAYS four navigation were reopened.
That had been closed, Keith Gudgin reports.
North Stratford Canal
Shirley Drawbridge 8 had been closed after vehicle struck the barriers. These have been repaired and the the bridge is again in working order.
These barriers were also hit by a vehicle on the 2st of July and broken, so CCTV would certainly be advisable so that the cost of repairs could by obtained from the owner of the vehicles.
Leeds & Liverpool Canal
The Leeds & Liverpool Canal had been closed at various locations owing to lack of water, but this has been rectified and the locations now in water, but restrictions apply.
Now reopened are Office Lock 2 to Bank Newton Top Lock 41, and both the Bingley Five Rise and Bingley Three Rise.
As restrictions can vary, it is suggested that boater intending to use these locations get in touch with Canal & River Trust.
Grand Union Canal
Winkwell Lock 61 has been closed owing to a broken balance beam.
The trust's team has now completed the remedial repair to the balance beam, allowing the trust to safely reopen the navigation.
Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal
The Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal had been closed from Bridge 47 to Bridge 55 due to a bed valve failure that caused a small breach within the canal bed.
This required stop planks to enable it to be repaired, but this has now been completed and the waterway reopened.Â
