Two failures over the week-end

THERE have been two navigation failures over the week-end closing navigations.

The first was another swing bridge failure on the Leeds & Liverpool, this time Methodist Swing Bridge (15) at Maghull, Keith Gudgin informs us.

The failure is caused by a mechanical fault, with contractors informed of the problem and are expected to plan the repair.

Lee navigation

The second stoppage in on the Lee Navigation, that is closed at Tottenham Lock (17) at Tottenham Hale.

The problem is due to faults with the lock sluices that have stopped the lock being operable.
