THE RECENT HIGH WINDS have brought many trees down in the navigations.

TreeDownThis is throughout the whole system, with reports as boaters are unable to proceed by fallen trees.

Grand Union Canal

The picture by Graham Hardwick showing one stopping navigation near the Globe Inn at Leighton Buzzard on the Grand Union Canal.

There are many down along the wooded section of the Staffs & Worcs around Greensforge stopping navigation.

Canal & River Trust will be busy with its workers clearing the trees from the canals for the whole of this week and possibly going into the next.

Huddersfield Narrow Canal

Another warning just received is of trees in the canal north of the tunnel on the Huddersfield Narrow that are also preventing navigation.

And more trees down we are told on the South Oxford, but no actual location given.

One thing is for sure that the high winds have caused havoc on the waterways with their many overhanging trees being felled.
