Rivers flood again
THE MELTING snow coupled with more rain today has once again brought the navigable rivers into flood.
Even the navigational Weaver, and virtually at its start has created a warning for both Northwich and Winsford that now have flood warnings with its towpath well under water along its entire length.
The Trent of course always suffers, with its whole navigational length in flood and its two main marinas, Sawley and Newark in flood conditions, and more rain forecast.
The Severn
And the Severn, with its long length and so many tributaries before it reaches it navigation sections is another that is flooded.
The Thames too has its non navigable boards showing along its whole length. Here's a picture of a former flood on the Thames.
In fact, as far as navigation is concerned, it would be difficult to find a river where boats could safely cruise—and we keep being told it will get worse.
The problem is these continuing downpours, coupled now with melting snow are having a great effect of boaters leaving river moorings and their risk.
