THE BOSLEY FLIGHT on the Macclesfield Canal is closed again.

This time it is problems with Lock 6, Keith Gudgin reports.

This is due to a loose cill baffle and a damaged head gate, with the subsequent  leakage also leaving low water.

This means of course that the Macclesfield is closed for through navigation.

With the trust informing—Our teams are currently assessing the situation and planning the necessary repairs, due to the number of emergency repairs in the North West and the continued dry weather, we are not able to provide an estimate on when the repairs can take place.

Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal

The Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal is closed at Debdale Lock 9.

This we are told is due to paddles being left open overnight at Kidderminster Lock 6, that has resulted in a temporary closure of canal between Lock 6 and Lock 9, to replenish water levels.

This should take a few hours and navigation should be open early this afternoon.
