Locking the locks

IT WOULD seem the comment by contributors that there is less vandal activity was somewhat premature, as Canal & River Trust have now had to close locks to navigation during evening and night.

Closed to navigation

In response to what it calls 'a spate of anti-social behaviour', leaving empty pounds and a significant loss of water on Offerton Flight (Locks 8 to 11) on the Worcester & Birmingham Canal, it will be closed to navigation and securely locked at 5.30pm until 8.30pm every day, Keith Gudgin tells us.

This came into force this week and will continue until further notice.
