THE HUDDERSFIELD NARROW CANAL has now reopened after a successful repair.

This was to to the paddles at Gas Works Lock 16 West, Keith Gudgin reports.

The problem was that two paddles had failed on the lock making it inoperable, with it having to be emptied to allow the engineers access.

This was further delayed as pumps had to be obtained to allow safe access to the paddles.

The other good news was that both the Marple and Bosley flights were reopened on Wednesday.

Did not last

But alas this did not last as the Bosley Flight was closed again the following day, Thursday.

The stoppage this time is urgent repairs to a leak on the Lock 7 tail gate.
