Non-emergency call progress
LATER this month another four police forces will begin using the Single Non-Emergency phone Number (SNEN) '101', bringing the total to nine.
These will come into operation on the 27th of June, and is designed to connect you to your local police force wherever you are in the country, writes Graham Keens.
Auto-route
Once fully implemented I understand that the SNEN will cost 15p from landlines and mobiles, and will auto-route to the right force for your location when dialled.
But if you do report an incident that occurs on the canal then ensure you obtain a crime number before ringing off, as this improves the chances of the incident being investigated in order to close the case.
Updated
My updated list of of non emergency numbers is still available at:

For all urgent calls (life and death stuff) you should still use 999.
[The narrowboatworld list has been updated to include the SNEN numbers that are available.]
