More peaceful for Stratford moorers
BOATERS MOORING in Stratford should find it more peaceful as anti-social behaviour is being clamped down.
A Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) has been granted for Stratford District Council to address anti-social behaviour linked to alcohol consumption in the whole of Stratford that includes the banks of the Avon, Roger Fox reports.
Criminal and anti-social behavior
This is the result of the council and Warwickshire Police received increasing reports regarding criminal and anti-social behaviour linked to alcohol use in Stratford over the past three years. (The picture shows the moorings that were erected in Stratford.)
PSPOs are designed to tackle anti-social behaviour in public places and states—'Anywhere within the boundaries of the restricted area, police officers, police community support officers and any other person duly authorised by the council are authorised to require a person to stop drinking alcohol and surrender any alcohol container in their possession, where anti-social behaviour is occurring, or in their reasonable belief is likely to occur'.
A breach of the order can be dealt with by issuing of a Fixed Penalty Notice of up to £100.
More peaceful stays
So boaters mooring in Stratford should have more peaceful stays.
Just one problem, Roger reminds—they have to get there first past closed locks!
