Another month until 'Rochdale Nine' repair starts

IT WILL not be until late September that work on the closed Rochdale Canal lock will be started.

Until then Princess Street Lock (87) on the 'Rochdale Nine' in Manchester will remain closed for navigation, Keith Gudgin reports.

All shut-off

All the locks in the 'Nine' will be shut-off, with padlocks on locks 91 and 84, preventing access, with work not starting until the 20th of September.

This is for customers' safety tell Canal & River Trust.

This delay has been caused  as access by a crane is needed causing a road closure. It is expected that work will start after this on a broken heel post.
