Don't work lift bridge alone

CHISNELL Lift Bridge (193) on the Oxford Canal can no longer be worked by one person.
This lift bridge at North Aston is no longer weighed so requires two people to operate, and though not stated, don't do it if you are alone advises Keith Gudgin.
Canal & River Trust tell that the lift bridge still remains in operation but is impossible to move by one person.
Working in pairs
This is because it can be moved but so heavy only by people working in pairs as it requires to have weights added to balance the bridge, and when installed will be back to normal operation.
Single handed boaters will have no option but to await another boat before they will be able to get through.
