THERE HAVE BEEN A NUMBER OF CLOSURES reported today .

WinkwellGrand Union Canal

Starting  with the closure again of Winkwell Swing Bridge on the Grand Union Canal, Keith Gudgin reports.

This time it is down due to a power issue, with UK Power Network informed of the problem.

Huddersfield Narrow Canal

Lock 5 on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal has had its anchor and collar fixed, but it not reopened owing to the lack of water level that makes it unsafe to operate.

When the level reaches optimum height the navigation will reopen.

Lee Navigation

There is another closure on the Lee Navigation, this time Hardmead Lock 3 has an obstruction on its cill.

The navigation will remain closed until the obstruction is removed.

Sheffield & Tinsley Canal

And still another obstruction, this time on the Sheffield & Tinsley Canal with an obstruction on the deep lock on the Tinsley Flight.

This blockage is affecting the bottom gates, that will not close.

Reopened

Lapworth Lock 9 was closed on the 8th of December due to a void that has formed behind the lock wall.

The trust's engineering team visited the site to assess the situation and undertake necessary safety measures, then work eventually progressed with the navigation now reopened.
