THE LONDON & SOUTH EAST area of Canal & River Trust often use vandals as a reason for its stoppages.
But this time it really has gone too far, as Keith Gudgin reports.
For it tells that vandals are suspected of knocking the bridge off its mountings, yet the lift bridge weighs many tons and will need a crane to get it back onto its mountings, providing of course that is the problem.

We are told a team has been mobilised to the site to assess the extent of the damage and start work designing a repair solution.
