This just does not make sense

THE Canal & River Trust only too often gets its stoppage notices wrong, but the latest just does not make sense.

It told yesterday, Thursday, 'Navigation Closed' between bridges 127 and 128 at Wormleighton on the Oxford Canal, yet it also states:

Stoppage cancelled

'This Stoppage has been cancelled. Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances we have had to cancel the work and remove it from this years winter programme, these works will be rescheduled for a later date'.

This is followed by the original message:

A stoppage is required. EKFB, a contractor working on behalf of HS2 will be installing a temporary bridge. To keep people safe during these works, both the navigation and towpath will be closed.

Is it closed?

If the stoppage has been cancelled how can the waterway be listed as closed?  Is it closed?  If so, is it closed until the work can be completed? Or is it yet another of the ridiculous errors that appear in the trust's stoppage notices.

Whatever, such poor, and often inaccurate information, reflects badly on an organisation that allows it.
