Narrowboats can pass the sunken boat

IT HAS been discovered that narrowboats can pass the boat sunk in the Leeds & Liverpool Canal.

The boat was found sunk in the middle of the canal on Saturday with a notice given that boats could not pass, but it not being exactly in the middle, boaters discovered that this allowed narrowboats to get past where it was further from the bank.

The sinking was by Swine Lane Swing Bridge 198 near Riddlesden.

Not enough space

However we are informed that wide beam boats are unable to pass as there is not enough space available.

There is no intimation that the owner of the sunken boat has been found, so there is yet nothing in hand to have it lifted out of the navigation.
