Where were the volunteers?

I WAS interested to read your article about those volunteers on the Rochdale Canal getting an award, writes, Julie Parsons.

When we 'struggled' through the Rochdale, and I use the word purposely, earlier this year, except for the those at that Tuel Lane Lock we met not a single one along the whole waterway.

Stoppage at Manchester lock

Neither did they tell us that there was a stoppage at a Manchester lock and there were no warning notices anywhere telling us of the same, our just being stuck with four other boats.

I expect the whole thing was to promote volunteers, but to me they did not rate and vastly different from those very helpful ones at every lock at Fradley on the T&M, who would have had my vote.
