Anderton Lift only free on pot luck

THE lift charges at Anderton Boat Lift are the same as they have ever been, writes Linda Andrews.

You can pay to book a passage, or turn up and take pot luck free of charge. But with limited opening the pot luck option isn't a lot of use if you are on a schedule, for example on a week's hire, or fitting your visit in with holidays from work.

Llangollen stoppage

With the Llangollen, they have to pump the water, there are 12 million gallons a day coming down. If they just blocked the canal without a means of moving the water there would be carnage.
