Anderton Boat Lift needs to be tested

ANDERTON Boat Lift needs to be tested after the recent flood damage.

But first its electrics, that were swamped in the flood and need replacing, have to be re-installed, Keith Gudgin reports.

Both Canal & River Trust's mechanical and electrical engineers will be continuing to carry out work relating to the flood damaged components.

Once this is completed then the lift itself will have to be tested is case the flood caused more damage than first envisaged.

Swamped three control boxes

It was on the 26th January that the flood waters swamped three control boxes on the Weaver including that of the boat lift.

There is no intimation of these boxes being made water tight.
