Macclesfield closed again—what's new?

SO THE Macclesfield is closed again—what's new?  Asks Jeff Longdon.

I am unfortunate enough to moor at the junction with the Macclesfield and Peak Forest canals and can tell you it is no place to be if you want to cruise.

Closed time after time

I have lost count of how many times I have been stuck with either of the two closed, the Peak Forest for months on end and the Macclesfield time after time.

The last few years have been murder for boating from here, and should anyone care to enter 'Macclesfield' and 'Peak Forest' in your search facility they will see why.  Closure after closure of both, then last year when the Peak Forest was open the northern canals were closed all summer as water shortage through leakage, so nowhere to go only the Bridgewater.

Giving up

So now you can add me to the list of boaters who are giving up, it's just not worth it anymore.
