SUNDAY afternoon and having moored up early for the day the tranquillity of the Staffs and Worcester is destroyed by sight of a yellow boat coming around the bend behind us dragging a wave which is almost topping the Armco banking, writes Michael Bonathan.

A quick cut-back on throttle heard by us, some 40m away, resulted in only a major disturbance to us. Unfortunately in my haste to find the camera I missed the name on the boat.

Another yellow boat

Surprise, surprise when ahead of us nothing short of full throttle was re-applied as the boat disappeared leaving a white plume behind it. Forward two hours and another yellow boat passes, albeit not as quickly, but no attempt whatsoever to ease back on speed.

The first boat was out-and-out dangerous and the second just inconsiderate but I'm left with serious doubts as to what instruction, if any, had been given.
