THE Canal & River Trust (CaRT) Meetings Calendar provides a valuable resource for anyone interested in what is happening at the Trust.
However, from the Calendar on CaRT's website, it would appear that the Trust will have just four meetings this month, one of which is still to be confirmed. Next month, the Calendar shows just three meetings.
Expect considerable more
On average the Trust has had 20 meetings a month appearing in its Calendar. That suddenly fell to seven in December. This may be explained, at least in part, by people taking extended holidays over the Christmas period. However, one would expect considerably more than seven to be showing for the first two months of this year. It is one third of the figure for the first two months of 2015.
It might be that that the Calendar is not now being updated properly with future dates of meetings and, when available, documentation such as notes/minutes. Certainly, this was the case recently with the South East Boating Partnership Boating sub-group. This has now been partially corrected but full resolution is still awaited
25 hours meeting
On a lighter note, the Meetings Calendar tells us that the Board of Trustees met in Sheffield on ‘12th January 2016, 12:30pm to 13th January 2016, 2pm'—that's a twenty five and a half hour meeting! Tongue in cheek, we would suggest that they were discussing the lack of interest in the council elections ...
On a more serious note, the Meetings Calendar has been showing the twenty five and a half hour meeting for weeks and it has not been corrected.Does anybody in the Trust care what the public think anymore?
[The only meetings the boating public can attend are Waterways Partnership Annual Meetings and Cart's Annual Public Meeting.]
