THE Calder & Hebble Navigation flooded dramatically during this week's storm, with many of its moored boats slung on to its banks, and though now receded, another storm is forecast.

Most will have either seen the dramatic pictures or heard of the floods caused by the recent storm in the North, with another to follow.

Sunk

Many boats have been caught, with news of those lifted by the flood onto the bank side or worse still, having been sunk in the onslaught, with Canal & River Trust advising boaters to obviously avoid the waterway and the Aire & Calder too that is suffering flooding.

The failure of the Environmental Agency's flood gate allowed the Foss to flood, it not being closed to hold back the tide, and though officially the operating system was flooded, we are getting information that it had been giving problems beforehand, that had not been attended to.
