THE CLOSURE OF COSSINGTON LOCK on the Leicester Section has encountered several unexpected challenges that have affected progress.
But will reopen this Friday, Keith Gudgin reports.
It was on the 7th September that Cossington Lock failed, with Canal & River Trust telling that problems including difficulties mobilising the works, including access constraints and the need to travel from an alternative base, have reduced the time available for productive work on site.
Working hard
But the teams have been working hard when they were able to get material to the lock and making up for lost time.
The work was to carry out essential improvements that included the replacement of both the top and bottom lock gates.
As stated, it is expected that these will be all finished in time for Friday's opening.
