I THINK I have possibly found a very large group of the CaRT visitors to the waterways, writes Keith Gudgin.
If there are 35,000 boats (CaRT's figure) with say an average of two crew and each crew member is deemed to visit every day then this accounts for 25,550,000 visits per year, viz: 35,000 x 2 x 365.
I assume that some 40,000 boat bound dogs, cats, ferrets, parrots and other animals will account for a few more.
Step on and off boat
On the other hand if you take it to mean that every time I step off my boat counts as one visit and you assume I step of my boat an average of five times per day then this could account for 127,750,000 visits or around half of CaRT's figure. (35,000 x 2 x 5 x 365.)
As Father Christmas will be visiting all of us that will account for 35,000 more and on one day to boot.
Where can they be
So just 127,675,000 to go. It leaves us with an average of 349,795 visitors per day or just 175 visitors per mile per day—any ideas who, or more to the point, where they can be?
Just having a laugh. (As CaRT obviously appear to be doing!)
Have a Happy Christmas and New Year to you all.
