Towpath attacker in custody

THE man who attacked a woman on the towpath of the Kennet & Avon at Fobney Lock in Reading (Woman in canal to escape knife attacker) has been caught and is now in custody.

The 21 years old man, Ryan Lockyer, has been charged with kidnap/falsely imprisoning a person with intent to commit a relevant sexual offence, threats to kill, and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, Alan Tilbury reveals.

Jumped into waterway

The woman was assaulted during the afternoon of Tuesday, 7th October, as she walked along the towpath of the Kennet & Avon, jumping into the waterway to avoid futher attack.

The man was remanded in custody to appear at Reading Crown Court on Monday, 3rd November.

The police are asking any boaters in the vicinity who noticed a distressed woman to contact them on 101.
