Human remains in canal

HUMAN remains have been discovered in the Icknield Port Loop of the BCN by contractors working on the waterway.

The body has been identified as that of Michael Spalding, 39, from Ladywood, who has been missing for some time, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Two arrested

This has resulted in two people, a man and a woman, being arrested on suspicion of murder after the remain were identified.

The Icknield Port Loop was closed to boating after the discovery was made.
