Barrier wanted after two deaths

THE result of two deaths by cars leaving the road and careering into the Nene, has prompted campaigners to call for safety barriers to be installed.

The latest death was when teenager Hannah Yates' car left North Bank at Whittlesey, on the 3rd November.  Fifty years old Jurij Grisko, also died on the same stretch, when his car left the road last year, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Campaigners

The campaign group Fenland Road Safety Campaign are now pushing for barriers to be erected on the stretch, with members of Peterborough City Council intending to meet the campaigners.

It is now a question of where the money for the work will come from, as the cost has been estimated at £45,000, a third of which must be raised by the group.
