Low water levels cause alternative start for trip boats

LOW water levels on the Chesterfield Canal has caused the Chesterfield Canal Trust to alter the starting point of it's trip boat John Varley II.

Until the end of the month it will be operating from Hollingwood Hub owing to low water levels at its usual starting point of Tapton Lock.

john varley tripboat 1It will be operating Sunday morning two hour cruises and Sunday afternoon one hour cruises, with one hour cruises on Mondays 6th and 27th, evening.

There will be Fish & Chip cruises on the 1st, 15th and 29th and afternoons on the 8th and 22nd.

Madeline

Madeline will be operating Saturday one hour return cruises from Hollingwood Hub and also on Mondays 6th and 27th.

Hugh Henshall will be operating one hour trips from the Lock Keeper pub in Worksop on the 5th, 6th, 19th and 27th and a return cruise from Shireoaks to Turnerwood on the 26th.  The John Varley II is pictured.

Seth Ellis will be operating cruises from Retford Town Lock on 6th, with Sunday afternoon cruises from Ranby on 19th and Wednesday Wandering cruises from Ranby on the 29th.
