Don't call—no one there!

IF YOU want to report something concerning the Manchester & Pennine Canals, or book a passage through a tunnel, don't call in the morning as there is no one to answer the phone!

As from today, Monday, as a consequence of unexpected staff absence, until further notice, calls can only be answered after 2pm each day, Keith Gudgin tells us.

Tunnels

This includes passages through such as Harecastle Tunnel on the Trent & Mersey Canal, Standedge Tunnel on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal or Tuel Lane on the Rochdale Canal.

Keith tells us he has had five emails about this—for the Trent & Mersey, Macclesfield, Peak Forest and two for the Rochdale. And asks are they now saying that they are so short of staff that they cannot even find someone else to answer the phone?
