Changed name and licence

THE stolen boat, Samshiba, would not have been recognised by the lock keepers as Steve Hayes tells us it had travelled with a different licence and name.

He tells us he saw two men sanding the blue paint off the boat on Friday evening but could not identify it at the time as the stolen boat.

Interior stripped

On the Saturday morning he stopped and gave the police what information he could. All the windows had been taken out of the boat and replaced with plywood, the interior had been stripped, but then the boat had not been repainted.

We do not know what action the police are taking against the thieves.
