EA cuts service to boaters

THE Environment Agency had stopped a very important service to boaters, that is causing some distress.

This is the automatic generated warnings of river conditions on the Thames, such as possible flood conditions, as seen at Marlow in the picture, that were of great use to boaters in planning a cruise, but which for some reason have been stopped, and boater Kathryn Dodington writes:

The Environment Agency has a number of people who have registered (some of us years ago) who no longer receive the auto generate boating updates.

Unable to resolve issue

The Environment Agency seems to have buried its head in the sand and seems unable to resolve the issue. Yes we can get the information on line but a proactive prompt that it has been updated is so much better than going on line (never cheap on a boat) to check.

With the fees it charges I would have expected a better service. If you registered on the Environment Agency website,  when the river conditions change (i.e. as they are changing now to red boards) the website generates an email to advise of the update.

Stopped working for some

For some of us that stopped working at the beginning of May, and despite repeated requests for it to resolve the issue, it seems to have done nothing so when the website is updated I don't receive any advice that it has been updated, whereas some people do despite the fact I have been registered with them for four or so years.

Yes I can go on line and find out what's happening but I may go on at 16:00 and see no changes because they update it 16:02. I am just about to head off from the Wey to Stratford so with the current conditions an automated email would be so helpful.
