A GREAT deal of importance was set on the acceptance of plans for a development by the derelict Hereford & Gloucester Canal, to further the restoration, but it has been recommended for refusal.
There were proposals for 20 new homes, together with the restoration of a section of the waterway at Dymock, but planning officers report that the scheme is in conflict with several local and national policies.
Cramped
The report points out that the development has a cramped urban feel, poor layout and not taking into consideration the rural village character of Dymock, with the street scene dominated by parking.
The Herefordshire and Gloucestershire Canal Trust was hoping for acceptance of the plans, that would have ensured another section of the 54 miles long waterways being restored.
