Thames could get new marina

THERE is the possibility of a new marina on the Thames at Surbiton if a developer gets its way.
Hydro Properties wants to use 'floating technology' to put accommodation on the Surbiton filter-bed site by the river, with stakeholders at a recent meeting attended by invited groups and nearby businesses, voting on two potential plans, one with a marina and one without.
90 berths marina
They selected the one with a 90 berths marina that would include 14 houses and 46 apartments plus a restaurant.
Another filter-bed would also be maintained to protect the wildlife that is so key to the site, and played a big role in winning previous planning appeals.
