THE KEADBY RAIL DRAWBRIDGE 83 will be closed for a month in January.
Essential
The drawbridge will be closed on 5th January until 1st February, with Network Rail, who are carrying out the work, telling that this is essential.
This of course means that there will be no access to or from the Trent to the Stainforth & Keadby Canal.
Yet it had a complete overhaul in January 2026, as shown.
Record of failings
Also known as Vazons Bridge, it has a record of failings as it does not operate when the temperature became too high, meaning it is automatically closed to navigation, it giving preference to the railway over the canal.
This making it a risky business for boaters wanting to pass through Keadby.
During the year boaters complained the bridge was closed but there was no stoppage notices, but it is understood this was the fault of Network Rail not passing them on to the trust.
