A BROKEN balance beam on the Northampton Arm will take at least five weeks to repair, with Rodney Hardwick writing:

NorthamptonArmIt is very disappointing how long it is going to be to repair the balance beam on the Northampton Arm.

Reopen end of June

The stoppage started on the 25th May, so even if they reopen at the end of June it will be at least five weeks.

Part of the reason could be because the arm is under the East Midlands Region of CRT.

When a similar occurrence happened at Dashwood's Lock on the Oxford and Stoke Hammond on the Grand Union, both in the London & South East Region, a temporary repair was devised much quicker. Photograph by Rodney Hardwick.
