THE information that the Wigan Flight will be closed from the 3rd to 14th of July has been superseded.
The flight on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal was closed today, Wednesday, Keith Gudgin reports.
Lock 68 on the flight has failed with a' blown' cill so the flight is now closed early!
The previous information concerned the top lock and the one one below and leakage, that was to take a fortnight to repair.
Other problems
Other problems include Marsden Flight on the Huddersfield Narrow closed on Monday through low water levels.
Then Lock 2 failing on Tuesday on the Rufford Branch of the Leeds & Liverpool, with a fault with its tailgate.
Then Selby Toll Bridge failing with a fault with its structure also on Tuesday.
Kennet & Avon
The Kennet & Avon stoppage at Lock 29 is still not repaired, though Caen Hill Flight on the same waterway has reopened.
The 'blown' cill on the Rochdale has been repaired.
But boaters cruising the six broad locks on the Trent & Mersey are asked to travel in pairs to save water, though fed by the Trent. But so few use these mostly difficult locks that there could be a very long wait!
