Pollution closes Macclesfield Canal

POLLUTION has closed the Macclesfield Canal at Bridge 50 at Cowley.
No intimation has been given as to what caused the pollution only that it has closed the navigation, Keith Gudgin reports.
Booms across waterway
A local team has been at the site to put booms across the waterway to prevent it spreading.
This occurred yesterday, Thursday, and the navigation will be closed until further notice.
LATEST: Te pollution has been cleared and the navigation open. No intimation what the pollution was.
