No crane available to clear Stourbridge stoppage

THE masonry that fell into the Stourbridge Canal needs a crane to remove it, but one is unavailable at present.

It was last Saturday that the parapet on Bull Street Bridge over the Stourbridge Canal was dislodged by a vehicle strike, Keith Gudgin reports.

This weekend

But the navigation hopes to be reopened by this weekend when finally the use of a crane and a lorry can be procured.

A crane was originally arranged for yesterday, Wednesday, but did not arrive, with the promise of one tomorrow that should clear the navigation for the weekend.

Navigation is of course impossible owing to the amount of debris in the water by the bridge.
