Not a good start to the New Year

IT LOOKS like being 'business as usual' with a broken lock stoppage bringing in the New Year.

It is Stewponey Lock (13) on the Staffs & Worcs that has failed with part of the bottom end gate having broken off, meaning the lock is out of action, Keith Gudgin reports.

This is the lock below the waterway's junction with the Stourbridge Canal.

With it being a holiday period the contractors will not be available, so the lock will be closed until at least Tuesday.

Certainly not a very good start to the New Year.
