THE leaking gates on Lock 6 of the Staffs & Worcs Canal are to be refitted in an attempt to stop leakage.
The gates of the lock in Kidderminster town centre (pictured) have been badly leaking so they are to the refitted and realigned to stop the leakage, Keith Gudgin reports.
This means that the navigation will be closed from Thursday 19th January until Tuesday 21st February, it taking a month for contractors to undertake the work.
This follows the work on Hatton Flight on the Grand Union Canal that was closed from on the 4th January and will remain so until Friday 27th, two and a half weeks, to realign and refit both the top and bottom gates of Lock 29.
This again is to prevent the significant water loss which is causing problems for the volunteer lock keepers working the locks for boaters.
