Open gates draining Erewash Canal

THE Canal & River Trust state that open gates are draining the Erewash Canal, that is closing the navigation.

It is also blaming vandals for leaving gates open, Keith Gudgin reports, adding that will someone please tell CaRT that you cannot leave all the gates open on a lock so it drains the pound! 

If the gates didn't leak so badly then perhaps they would hold the water back.

Leak very badly

It is well known that the gates on the Erewash leak very badly indeed, hence the low pounds, with this time the navigation closed between Langley Lock and Shipley Lock.

Once again the reason is put on vandalism.
